It’s a field of strawberry bushes overhung with an orchard of red plums and red apples and gnarled old olive trees. It’s a bright, crisp moment of frozen time from a hundred years ago, as fresh and alive as if it was yesterday. No filter. A fully expressive but infinitely patient slow wine made from old vine red and white grapes.

About The Winemakers

Cabeças do Reguengo is a family-owned winery in Alto Altentejo producing biodynamic wines. Their terroir, tucked under the lower slopes of the Serra, is geographically distinct from the usual Alentejo climate and landscape. Their wines are ALL from century-old or antique vineyards (75+) and are ALL field blend, which makes for some fascinating, complex wines, even at entry level. Their viticulture is free of chemicals and dedicated to restoring traditional farming systems, including grafting onto dead or old vines to retain and revive the original grapevine stock – expensive, bold and risky, but that’s the only way to fully restore the vineyard that makes the wines they love so much.

The Alentejo covers a large area and is characterized by its hot, dry summers and mild winters. The vineyards are planted on rolling hills and plains, and the soils are predominantly made up of granite, schist and limestone. Its wines are known for their full-bodied flavors and rich, earthy tones.
