What The Fellas Say

Mmmmm. Yuuuuummmm. Creamy, honey, butterscotch whiskey candies wrapped in slivers of orange and lychee melting in your mouth and dripping down your chin. Drink chilled but not too much. You’ll want to let this natural yeast, unfiltered wine really tell its story, and what a story it is, with over 16 different grape varieties from 75+ old vines.

What The Sommelier Says

Pale golden colour with light legs hides a complex nose of quince, baked apple, wet stone and loads of butter and honey. On the palate it is dry yet satisfyingly creamy and full-bodied, with medium acidity and a long finish.

Pairs well with…

…a grilled Perch or Sea Breem with a leek and dashi beurre blance, slow-roast bochechas de porco preto, or even a spicy Thai chicken noodles.

About The Winemakers

Cabeças do Reguengo is a biodynamic family-owned winery in Alto Altentejo. Their terroir, tucked under the lower slopes of the Serra, is very distinct from the usual Alentejo climate and landscape. Their wines are ALL from century-old or antique vineyards and are ALL field blend, which makes for some fascinating, complex wines, even at entry level. Their viticulture is free of chemicals and dedicated to restoring traditional farming systems, including grafting onto dead or old vines to retain and revive the original grapevine stock – expensive, bold and risky, but that’s the only way to fully restore the vineyard that makes the wines they love so much.
