What The Fellas Say

An easy, barefoot stroll down a dusty country lane in late summer. The bees are buzzing and there’s a whiff of honeysuckle and magic in the air. It’s all a bit dreamy and filled with the music of satyrs wooing tree nymphs and getting them drunk…or maybe it’s the other way around. This curtimenta wine from the hills above the Tejo river valley has mythic, ambrosiac qualities that make up seem like down and future seem like past.

What The Sommelier Says

Vibrant and textured orange wine that captures the Atlantic freshness of Alcobaça. Amber-hued with a slight haze, it opens with aromas of dried apricot, orange peel, chamomile, and subtle herbal notes. On the palate, it is structured yet elegant, with layers of citrus zest, tea-like tannins, and a saline minerality that speaks to its coastal origin. The finish is long, slightly spicy, and refreshingly dry, making it an expressive example of skin-contact winemaking.

Pairs well with…

…grilled octopus, spiced chicken, miso-glazed eggplant, aged cheeses, and seafood rice, balancing bold flavors with its textured, citrusy freshness and subtle saline edge.

About The Winemakers

João Tereso, a former sound engineer, began winemaking in 2017 to rescue his grandfather’s old field-blend vineyards in Alcobaça, with the guidance of a great friend, local agronomist and winemaker Rodrigo Martins, I learned how to care for the vines. Later expanding to organically farmed, decades-old vines in the Tojais Valley, crafting low-sulphur wines under the brand Chinado—named for both a playful “nick” and the stone markers of vineyard plots.
