What The Fellas Say

This is like a well-rehearsed performance of Bach’s Gigue from the French Suite—lively, articulate, and full of interplay. The Viognier is the right hand, dancing through the sixteenth-notes to decorate the nose with bright florals and tropical flair. The Chardonnay lays down the counterline—structured, citrus-toned, and rhythmically assured. The result is dry, well-balanced, alive but not in a hurry. The finish resolves in perfect cadence—satisfying, elegant, and worthy of an appreciative nod from the harpsichord bench.

What The Sommelier Says

This wine has a bright citrus hue and moderate clarity, with floral and tropical aromas of notable intensity. On the palate, it’s dry with balanced acidity, smooth tannins, and a well-rounded body. Elegant and well-structured, it offers good aromatic persistence and can be enjoyed now or aged for up to five years.

Pairs well with…

…a fresh golden bream wrapped in lemon slices and roast over coals, pan-seared chicken cutlets or a lemon cheesecake.

About The Winemakers

The Osório de Vasconcelos Jardim Gonçalves family arrived in Colares guided by generations of winemaking heritage from the valleys and hills of Távora-Varosa and cliffs and sea air of Madeira. They planted the first vineyard in the late 1990s, among the lush gardens of Quinta da Azenha with its unique microclimate influenced by the Serra de Sintra and the proximity of the Atlantic. Starting with two classic French grapes – Merlot and Pinot Noir – the first wines were for family and friends but the quality and unique character of the wines inspired the family to present the first wines for the public in 2017. Since then, they have added small plots of Chardonnay, Semillon and Riesling, along with the unique DOC Colares grapes of Ramisco and Malvasia.
