Geographic Wines make wines that are as close to natural as possible – hand harvest, spontaneous, natural fermentation – but they love to play and experiment as well. This Touriga Nacional comes from two distinct small parcels, one in Cima Corgo at 150m altitude, the other in Douro Superior at close to 600m. What you get is a complex, subtle and fresh wine that is like skinny dipping on a moonlit night then drying off with a towel made of raspberries and pepper and cinnamon.

What The Sommelier Says

A lovely deep ruby colour. A light, expressive and fresh nose of spices, red currants and raspberry. Smooth, light and complex on the palette, showing its natural structure with distinct pepperiness, red fruits and undertones of forest floor. The natural, spontaneous fermentation highlights the micro-terroirs’ minerality, acidity and freshness.

Pairs well with…

…a crispy, thin crust walnut and pear pizza, a flash-seared picanha, or a bacon, blue cheese and pomegranate salad.

Geographic Wines was born from the dream of Nuno Morais Vaz and Daniela Matias to create unique wines, based on authenticity, social and environmental sustainability, the preservation and dissemination of the different terroirs and Portuguese wines. They wanted to create a travelogue of Portugal for their customer to journey around the country’s wine history without leaving their dinner table. Each production of Geographic Wines is an authentic expression of the region and grape and traditions from which it comes.

The wines of the Douro Valley are known for their depth, complexity, and aging potential. The soil is predominantly schist, a type of metamorphic rock that retains heat and helps to ripen the grapes. The region’s unique terroir, combined with the use of indigenous grape varieties and traditional winemaking techniques, create wines that are rich, complex, and full of character.
