About The Winemakers
Quinta do Rol is a centuries-old, family-owned estate in the Lourinhã region north of Lisbon, where favorable coastal climate, argillic-calcareous soils, and carefully managed viticulture support the production of high-quality wines, sparkling wines, fortified wines, and the renowned Lourinhã DOC Aguardente. Evolving from its origins in pear and apple cultivation, the estate now maintains around 120 hectares of vineyards and combines traditional knowledge with modern practices to craft elegant, complex, and long-lived wines marked by freshness, minerality, and salinity. As the largest local producer of grapes and aguardente—and home to the municipality’s only approved distillery—Quinta do Rol plays a leading role in one of the world’s three exclusive PDO aguardente regions, while cultivating both prestigious international grape varieties such as Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc and notable Portuguese varieties like Arinto and Alvarinho.

Gotta say this is a great Riesling in part because it’s different from all the others I’ve had. Pleasantly surprised and had to double-check the bottle! Really smooth, drinkable and versatile…just the right acidity.
