What The Fellas Say

This is a wine with memory. It’s blackberry brambles winding around an old abandoned farm house. It’s the echo of Roman feet marching through the oak forests and grassy plains of the Alentejo plains. It’s the lingering murmurings of ancient volcanoes in bare outcrops of granite, wild blueberries peeking out among the crevices in the rocks.

What The Sommelier Says

Deep ruby-purple colour. On the nose, spicy pink pepper and wildflower notes over ripe blueberries and tart cranberries. Hints of licorice and toasted oak linger in the background. On the palate, bold and energetic, with opulent tannins and vibrant acidity driving a long, persistent finish that promises both finesse and staying power.

Pairs well with…

…slow-cooked game or red meat stews, as well as soft cheeses and pastries featuring cheese and red fruits, all of which amplify its intensity and freshness.

About The Winemakers

The history of Herdade da Amada stretches back several centuries. Historical records from the 17th century show it was primarily an agricultural estate, with a vegetable garden and a watermill. The 19th century was especially significant, marked by the planting of mulberry trees to support silk farming in Portugal. Alongside this, the estate continued to cultivate orchards and vineyards. In 2018, Herdade da Amada was revitalized by the Marvanejo Family, who embraced its legacy by planting 14 hectares of vineyard, restoring the land’s noble agricultural heritage.
