What The Fellas Say

Deep and fruity and yet fine and crisp; light and airy and yet complex and intense…basically, an enigma wrapped in a paradox and captured in a bottle. Alvarinho is the starting point but where you end up is floating over a sun-baked vineyard somewhere in the Vinho Verde.

What The Sommelier Says

Yellow citrus colour with nice fine, persistent bubbles, show character and body. Fruity aroma of Alvarinho fills the nose, while the mouth is firm yet complex.

Pairs well with…

…a celebration as an aperitif, but its personality makes it very gastronomic so go ahead and experiment!

About The Winemakers

Dona Paterna was founded by Carlos Alberto Codesso, inspired by his father’s passion for viticulture, and officially established in 1990 after years of hands-on experience and a deep connection to the land. Located in the historic parish of Paderne—home to a 10th-century monastery founded by the noble Dona Paterna—the winery honors its namesake’s legacy. Situated in the Monção and Melgaço sub-region, known for its unique microclimate and granite-rich soils, Dona Paterna cultivates rare, high-quality Alvarinho grapes on 17.5 hectares of south-facing slopes. With expert guidance from oenologist Fernando Moura, the winery blends modern technology with traditional methods to craft wines that are both distinctive and versatile, ideal as aperitifs or with seafood, fish, and poultry.
