What The Fellas Say

It’s a barefoot cellist in a florist’s shop. She draws her bow over the strings. Deep, resonant notes fill the air with lime blossom, fresh-cut peaches, and little drops of raspberry and blackberry. The cello hums with quiet confidence—rich, rounded, and just a little wild around the edges. There’s a whisper of spice, like someone crushed pink peppercorns on a windowsill, and tannins that don’t shout but insist, gently, that they’re there. It’s gluttonous, in the best way—full-bodied and silky, yet carried by a fresh, precise line that gives it elegance and lift. The music lingers long after she’s finished, and so does the wine.

What The Sommelier Says

Primado Rosé is produced only in select years and in very limited quantities. This 2021 vintag, matured 6 months in stainless steel and 6 in bottle, with its deep scarlet hue from the saignée method, bursts with aromas of lime blossom, peach, blackberry, and subtle spice. On the palate, it’s rich yet elegant—fruity, structured, with gentle tannins and a fresh, lingering finish. Bold Touriga Nacional leads the way, balanced gracefully by the finesse of Tinta Roriz and friends.

Pairs well with…

…a sashimi platter with the fattest tuna belly slices you’ve every seen, a delicately spiced yellow thai curry, a tarte tatin with a scoop of real vanilla bean icecream melting on top.

About The Winemakers

Nestled in Santa Comba Dão at Quinta do Coladinho—surrounded by the Estrela, Caramulo, Buçaco, and Lousã mountains, and near the Aguieira reservoir—Pereira de Melo Wines crafts small-batch, high-end wines from just two hectares of sandy-granitic vineyards. Guided by renowned oenologist Anselmo Mendes and his protégé Patrícia Santos, the team prioritizes minimal intervention, respect for biodiversity, and precision vinification combining traditional granite “pisa” and modern stainless steel fermentation. The result: deeply structured, elegant wines—particularly the Primado line, built for longevity and complexity—that showcase the extraordinary Dão terroir in limited releases.
