What The Fellas Say

A subtle, textured, old world wine. A Hegelian-dialectical discourse on the nature of cherry and mushrooms and forest floor. Don’t expect easy answers. Enter if you seek compexity and circularity.

What The Sommelier Says

Russet ruby in colour with evident maturity. On the nose, it has a quiet complexity: blackcurrant and sour cherry present and lively alongside delicate floral notes of rose, with signs of graceful evolution in the form of mushroom, earth and a hint of smoke. Low in alcohol and high in acidity, it is long and composed on the palate, with soft tannins.

Pairs well with…

…delicate but unctious dishes like a simple roast chicken with garlic and fresh herbs, a slow-cooked rabbit in white wine, or even a salade nicoisse.

About The Winemakers

CVIP (Picowines) was founded in 1949 to revitalize Pico Island’s vineyards after 19th-century disease devastated an island once called the “mother of wine.” It launched its first fortified wine, Pico Aperitif, in 1965, and expanded with new varieties under the 1980s Azores Viticultural Conversion Plan to produce high-quality, autochthonous white wines and unique expressions of classic French grapes like Merlot and Syrah.
