What The Fellas Say

You’re dreaming that you’re playing baseball in a field of wildflowers and fresh cut grass overlooking the rolling hills of Vinho Verde. The ball is a green apple and your bat is a cork branch. The pitcher is a donkey, Grüner Veltliner is at first base and Sauvignon Blanc is at shortstop. The play is at third and your manager says “Drink cold, drink often, drink without overthinking it.”

What The Sommelier Says

Fresh and aromatic with a pale greenish hue, floral aromas and lively notes of green apple and grass. Light, refreshing and crisp with personality and a herbaceous background.

Pairs well with…

…steamed clams with white wine and fresh herbs, a zesty ceviche, light smoked salmon blinis or a soft goat’s cheese and cucumber open sandwich on a warm afternoon.

About The Winemakers

Dona Paterna was founded by Carlos Alberto Codesso, inspired by his father’s passion for viticulture, and officially established in 1990 after years of hands-on experience and a deep connection to the land. Located in the historic parish of Paderne—home to a 10th-century monastery founded by the noble Dona Paterna—the winery honors its namesake’s legacy. Situated in the Monção and Melgaço sub-region, known for its unique microclimate and granite-rich soils, Dona Paterna cultivates rare, high-quality Alvarinho grapes on 17.5 hectares of south-facing slopes. With expert guidance from oenologist Fernando Moura, the winery blends modern technology with traditional methods to craft wines that are both distinctive and versatile, ideal as aperitifs or with seafood, fish, and poultry.
