Imagine if Dionysus had stolen one of Ceres’s cornucopias overflowing with peaches and melons and pineapples and passion fruit and maybe some lemons and limes and honeysuckle, then waved his divine hands in the air and turned it into a grape, vinified it and poured it into a bottle. Well, you’d have to call it Quinta do Pinto’s “Chenin Blanc”, a lip-smackingly fruity and full and layered wine that is like a deep-tissue massage for your taste buds.
What The Sommelier Says
A lemony-green colour, strong nose with intense notes of citrus, green apple and pear, and hints of tea leaves. Initially fresh and mineral on the palette, balanced by excellent full structure and complexity. It has a very long and persistent finish with a pleasing salinity.
Pairs well with…
…grilled fish, sushi, salads and pasta, cheese platter or simply by the glass.
About The Winemakers
Historically, the wine produced at the estate two centuries ago was so highly regarded in the region that it was worth more than the gold currency known as “Pintos” during the reign of King João V. This wine gained fame in European courts, and the estate’s charismatic steward at the time was also named Pinto, which led to the estate being referred to as ‘the Pinto.’ Coincidentally, Pinto is also the surname of the current owners, the Cardoso Pinto family, who proudly named their winemaking project and one of their wines after this legacy. Their mission is to produce high-quality wines that showcase the best of the region.
