What The Fellas Say

Like having a personal cooling fan while sitting on a hot Lisbon tram car in mid-July. Fresh, lemony and clean as a whistle, this very drinkable white is a swimming pool glinting in the afternoon sun, a fresh trout jumping in a mountain stream.

What The Sommelier Says

Intense nose with citrus notes, some flint giving a mineral touch. In the mouth, marked acidity, but not aggressive, with a note of minerality and once again with citrus notes standing out.

Pairs well with…

…white meats, cold salads, baked or grilled fish, pasta, risotto and cheese.

About The Winemakers

Situated south of Lisbon, in the municipality of Alcácer do Sal, in the parish of Torrão, opposite the village of São Romão. This region has roots in antiquity, evidenced by the discovery of coins and wine amphoras. The area, crossed by the Sado River, is characterized by hot, dry summers and mild, rainy winters. The temperate Mediterranean climate also reflects the proximity to the sea. From the outset, Herdade do Portocarro has produced deeply original wines. Its first wines – Herdade do Portocarro, Anima, and Cavalo Maluco – immediately positioned themselves at the top tier of national production. The project focuses on a philosophy of producing high-quality wines in limited and exclusive quantities. These are wines that impress and delight, providing unique moments for the most discerning enthusiasts. The wines from Herdade do Portocarro possess an intense and complex personality, tense and earthy, combined with extraordinary elegance and freshness. They are wines for a sophisticated, cultured, and discerning consumer who seeks and enjoys tasting something different.

Region: Setúbal Peninsula

The Setúbal region is thought to be the home of the first grape vines ever planted on the Iberian Peninsula (c 2000 BCE). Today, the region’s wines range from the sweet, floral Moscatel from the Serra da Arrábida, to the sublime reds of a well-structured Palmela. With fresh, coastal breezes and hot summers, the region offers some exquisite tasting experiences.
