What The Fellas Say

Not your typical winemaker. Not your typical Chardonnay. Anibal Coutinho hops around Portugal in his spacesuit making amazingly interesting and affordable wines, and this brand new Chardonnay is no exception. Minimal oak, lots of character and versatility. Smells like a basket of fresh-picked pears wrapped in a fresh morning breeze and tastes like a lemon tart wrapped in a custard cream.

What The Sommelier Says

Known worldwide, in maritime climates, this variety offers aromas of minerals and white fruits such as the local Rocha pear. In the mouth, it is full-bodied, creamy, with a good acid balance.

Pairs well with…

Excellent pairing with Italian food and large fish.

About The Winemakers

Aníbal Coutinho’s Astronauta Wines is a pioneering project that combines his love for travel with his expertise in winemaking. The concept involves producing wines in different countries, each crafted with a deep understanding of the local wine culture and grape varieties. Coutinho started the project in Portugal and South Africa, creating wines that showcase the most emblematic grapes of these regions—Touriga Nacional and Arinto from Portugal, and Chenin Blanc and Pinotage from South Africa. The project was first presented at the ProWein 2011 trade fair in Germany.
