A deep and mournfull fadista sings her heart out in a lonely bar beneath the walls of Castelo São Jorge. Dressed all in black her dark hair gleams in the candlelight. She sings of the city and of lost loves and of the village she left behind, the fields and vineyards and rich, dark earth beneath her feet. Bittersweet memories floating through the air over the empty tables and out into the lonely night.

What The Sommelier Says

A deep, intense and austere nose. Fruity with notes of fresh red berries, spices, cloves, black pepper and some hints of tobacco. The barrel is present but very well integrated. On the palate, intense, with notes of red fruits and spices. Tannins well integrated with a medium body, long finish and tertiary notes. Brave, tense and full of character as a Bairrada wine should be.

…succulent grilled lamb chops on the bone, beef tenderloin, or a duck breast dripping in fat.

About The Winemakers

Pedro´s Martim journey into the world of wine began by helping his childhood friend, winemaker António Maçanita, at Fita Preta in 2011. This experience sparked a deep passion for the craft. He later led the wine program at 100 Maneiras, pursued WSET Level 3 training, and worked as Wine Director at the M.B.D. group, overseeing restaurants like Trincas and The Decadente. Pedro also led the sommelier team at JNcQUOI, part of Grupo Amorim. Today, he focuses on representing wines that truly excite him, believing that wine should be experienced with authenticity and passion.

Region: Bairrada

Bairrada produces wines with high acidity and tannins, often aged in oak barrels to soften the tannins and develop complex flavors. The region’s soil is predominantly clay and limestone, which helps to retain moisture and gives the wines a distinct minerality.
