What The Fellas Say

A century of sunlight and rain and wind. A century of human feet pressing down on roots, of hands tending long forgotten grape varieties. A century of stories. That’s what you taste in this delicate, complex red that expresses itself like a slowly opened jam jar, a dry wind over the hills, an elegant silk-donned gentleman slicing a pomegranate with a bejewled dagger.

What The Sommelier Says

Slight, translucent garnet colour. Complex aroma with notes of dill, nutmeg and truffle, wrapped in dried vegetables and toasted bread. In the mouth there are nuances of cherry and liqueur with fine tannins. Long and persistent elegance.

Pairs well with…

…a succulent, seasoned piece of venison, a sunday roast, some strong cheeses or dense rich fruit cake. Decant and let it open up, a good couple of hours.

About The Winemakers

Casa Américo was born from Américo Seabra’s dream of producing wines that express his homeland, Vila Nova de Tazem, located in the heart of the Serra da Estrela sub-region, in the Dão region. This is one of the most distinctive terroirs of the Dão, where noble wines with unique freshness and elegance are produced. When he emigrated to the United States in 1967, he took his wife and six young children with him, but his heart always remained in Portugal. Around the year 2000, he returned to Portugal to fulfill his dream of producing wines in these mountainous lands. In 2009, his children decided that they should support and realize their father’s dream. Thus, Casa Américo was born. The mission of Casa Américo is to honor the memory of Américo Seabra by producing wines that best express the Serra da Estrela region while simultaneously developing and enhancing it.
