What The Fellas Say

Sophisticated, passionate, spicy, with intellectual depth and a subtle, sharp wit, you think it’s one thing then it pivots and finds another register. That Alfrocheiro aggression is tempered and softened but only a wee bit. There’s a little red devil dancing around in there under a hazy dream of tobacco smoke, black licorice and chocolate.

What The Sommelier Says

Dark ruby colour, floral notes, wild berries, and spices. On the palate, it is intense, full of character, with very polished tannins, in a very elegant and velvety structure. It finishes long, full of fruit, and fresh.

Pairs well with…

…roast duck, mushroom risotto, roasted beetroot & goat cheese salad, or seared tuna with black pepper and herbs to highlight its floral, berry, and spicy notes alongside its elegant, velvety structure.

About The Winemakers

This is a personal project by winemaker João Cabral de Almeida, producing wines in the Douro, Dão, and Vinho Verde regions. Under the motto “Wines with a sense of place,” the project focuses on creating wines that faithfully express their place of origin and the grape varieties used. João’s approach to winemaking is straightforward: “We spend the entire year focused on producing the best grapes. Then, in the winery, we aim to intervene as little as possible to let Nature express itself to the fullest.”
