What The Fellas Say

Like a pear falling down a mountain wrapped in orange blossoms and drizzled with sea spray while angels dance on the head of a pin. Crisp, complex and clear-minded.

What The Sommelier Says

Bright citrine in the glass, this wine opens with a clean, intense nose of tropical fruit, mineral notes and a light floral touch. The palate is full and fruity, held in shape by balanced acidity. It finishes long and persistent, with freshness carrying the fruit neatly through the close.

Pairs well with…

…clams in a white wine and garlic broth, a whole roast chicken with herbs and lemon or a simply grilled dourada straight off the coals.

About The Winemakers

Amadeu Abílio Lopes, originally from Melgaço in the Minho region, moved to Brazil in the mid-20th century in pursuit of new opportunities. He became a successful businessman and industrialist but never forgot his roots. Upon returning to his homeland, he aimed to contribute to the development of Melgaço and founded Quintas de Melgaço. This company brought together local producers, helping to promote the region and its wines, particularly Alvarinho, on the global stage. Quintas de Melgaço now unites over 500 small producers, all of whom are deeply connected to the region. Through their collective efforts, they have elevated Melgaço’s Alvarinho wine to international recognition. The wine, known for its unique character shaped by the local climate and soil, embodies the region’s rich history and traditions, passed down through generations of winemakers

Vinho Verde is known for its light, refreshing wines, known for their low alcohol content and slight effervescence. The soil is predominantly granite, which helps to retain moisture and gives the wines a unique minerality.
