What The Fellas Say

A berry bonanza in your nose and on your palate all wrapped in elegance and charm and insouciance. This field blend of 12 different grapes from antique vines is a delightfully remastered vintage 45 with all the analog crackles of its origins. Picture Carmen Miranda with a headpiece made of wild berries, plums, red currants and cacao pods while smoking a Romeo y Julietta.

What The Sommelier Says

Deep ruby colour, intense punchy nose with wild berries and plum with musky, earthy notes and hints of leather and chocolate. Delightfully elegant on the palate – balanced, good acidity and smooth with good depth. Medium, buttery finish.

Pairs well with…

…fresh-picked forest mushrooms sautéed in garlic and butter, a creamy lasagna bolognese, or something strong and pungent like a spicy lamb tagine.

About The Winemakers

Cabeças do Reguengo is a family-owned winery in Alto Altentejo producing biodynamic wines. Their terroir, tucked under the lower slopes of the Serra, is geographically distinct from the usual Alentejo climate and landscape, and their wines are ALL field blend from century-old or antique vineyards (75+), which makes for some fascinating, complex wines, even at entry level. The viticulture is free of chemicals and dedicated to restoring traditional farming systems, including grafting onto dead or old vines to retain and revive the original grapevine stock – expensive, bold and risky, but that’s the only way to fully restore the vineyard that makes the wines they love so much.
