What The Fellas Say

Somewhere on top of a rocky hill in the Dão is a field of old vines that time has forgotten. It’s old and hoary and filled with memories, and there’s enough grape varieties growing in there to vote on the Supreme Court. This is Musgo’s Field Blend red wine, a sweetly mischievous vintage of layered dark berries and tobacco leaves and spices.

What The Sommelier Says

Dark ruby red colour with aroma of red fruits and a hint of spices. On the palette the red fruit is very present, with a slight vegetal touch, in an elegant structure and smooth body, with an expressive finish.

Pairs well with…

…a crispy, thin crust pepperoni pizza, chicken alfredo or tapas.

About The Winemakers

This is a personal project by winemaker João Cabral de Almeida, producing wines in the Douro, Dão, and Vinho Verde regions. Under the motto “Wines with a sense of place,” the project focuses on creating wines that faithfully express their place of origin and the grape varieties used. João’s approach to winemaking is straightforward: “We spend the entire year focused on producing the best grapes. Then, in the winery, we aim to intervene as little as possible to let Nature express itself to the fullest.”
