What The Fellas Say

A mountain forest of oak and cork and chestnut. Sunlight filters down obliquely and the air is filled with a deep, warm earthy aroma tinged with something sweet, something peppery. Leaves crunch underfoot. You bathe in the silence of the hillside, run your hand against a massive granite boulder. You relax and breathe out. Tranquility.

What The Sommelier Says

Deep ruby color, aroma with notes of forest fruits, pine and light toast. In the mouth it has noble tannins, silky texture and a long, slow finish.

Pairs well with…

…juicy red meat and slow-cooked game dishes, a roast lamb shank, or aged manchego cheese. Decant and let it open up, a good couple of hours.

About The Winemakers

Casa Américo was born from Américo Seabra’s dream of producing wines that express his homeland, Vila Nova de Tazem, located in the heart of the Serra da Estrela sub-region, in the Dão region. This is one of the most distinctive terroirs of the Dão, where noble wines with unique freshness and elegance are produced. When he emigrated to the United States in 1967, he took his wife and six young children with him, but his heart always remained in Portugal. Around the year 2000, he returned to Portugal to fulfill his dream of producing wines in these mountainous lands. In 2009, his children decided that they should support and realize their father’s dream. Thus, Casa Américo was born. The mission of Casa Américo is to honor the memory of Américo Seabra by producing wines that best express the Serra da Estrela region while simultaneously developing and enhancing it.
