What The Fellas Say

Bottle up your patience and settle in to let the condensation form on your glass. This is as slow and lazy as the morning mist in Colares rolling in from the Atlantic up over the steep slopes of the Sintra hills before burning off in the midday sun. It’s not a rosé to chug down by the pool. Savour it’s fresh minerality and picture an old tiled fountain surrounded by blackberry thickets and wild strawberry vines. Sensational.

What The Sommelier Says

Bright and clear with a pale salmon color and moderate-persistence tears. The nose is pronounced, revealing mineral and salty notes alongside fresh vegetal nuances. On the palate, it is dry, with balanced acidity, a wellstructured alcohol level, and a medium body. The aromatic profile in the mouth mirrors the nose revealing the varietal aromas and flavors, offering superior quality. It has good intensity, pleasant balance, and a long, refined finish.

Pairs well with…

…goat cheese crostini with pickled shallots, a tuna steak seared rare with a scatter of sea salt, watermelon and feta salad, grilled prawns with lemon and smoked paprika.

About The Winemakers

The Osório de Vasconcelos Jardim Gonçalves family arrived in Colares guided by generations of winemaking heritage from the valleys and hills of Távora-Varosa and cliffs and sea air of Madeira. They planted the first vineyard in the late 1990s, among the lush gardens of Quinta da Azenha with its unique microclimate influenced by the Serra de Sintra and the proximity of the Atlantic. Starting with two classic French grapes – Merlot and Pinot Noir – the first wines were for family and friends but the quality and unique character of the wines inspired the family to present the first wines for the public in 2017. Since then, they have added small plots of Chardonnay, Semillon and Riesling, along with the unique DOC Colares grapes of Ramisco and Malvasia.
