What The Fellas Say

This is a wine that works like a time machine on your tongue. It’s elemental and ancient and fresh all at the same time, and it will spin you back a couple of millenia to when the Cima Corgo was home to the Lusitanii, fiercely defending their independence from first the Carthaginians then the Romans. It’s got a defiant nose and a good punch in the mouth that will make you wonder where the hell these ancient people got all that tropical fruit from.

What The Sommelier Says

On the nose, it’s expressive but not overpowering — clean citrus notes and white flowers are front and center, sometimes with discreet tropical hints. The attack is fresh with a light vegetal quality, quickly giving way to vibrant floral character and hints of white-fleshed fruit. There’s a lively acidity that keeps it crisp, while the lees ageing gives a subtle texture without heaviness.

Pairs well with…

…a fresh goat cheese with a light drizzle of local honey, grilled sardines with a squeeze of lemon, roast chicken with garlic and thyme, an almond tart or orange blossom cake.

Region: Douro

Region: Douro

The wines of the Douro Valley are known for their depth, complexity, and aging potential. The soil is predominantly schist, a type of metamorphic rock that retains heat and helps to ripen the grapes. The region’s unique terroir, combined with the use of indigenous grape varieties and traditional winemaking techniques, create wines that are rich, complex, and full of character.
