What The Fellas Say

Let’s play a game. Throw a river stone wrapped in a lemon slice into this orchard and see if you can knock a pear or fat green apple off a tree. Whoever knocks a fruit off first gets a bottle of this crisp, smooth and nicely-balanced Douro white wine. It’s just like the Rhodesian Ridgeback chilling on the label. Strong and loyal and ready for a long walk through the vineyards and rocky outcrops of the Cima Corgo.

What The Sommelier Says

With a citrus color, this wine is exuberant on the nose with intense fruity and floral notes. Fresh, mineral, and long on the palate

Pairs well with…

Ideal with seafood, grilled fish, fresh salads, goat cheese, or Mediterranean-style dishes.

About The Winemakers

Kranemann Wine Estates was founded by Christoph Kranemann, a German wine enthusiast and renowned North American surgeon, who fell in love with Portugal’s Douro region. His passion for wine began in the late 1980s during his professional travels, which included visits to over 200 wineries in Australia. Although the idea of becoming a wine producer was initially impractical, his dream became more tangible after meeting his Portuguese wife in 2004. Frequent trips to Portugal led him to discover local wines, grape varieties, and ultimately, the Douro region. His love for history and architecture played a significant role in his decision to purchase Quinta do Convento de São Pedro das Águias, a historic property dating back to the 12th century, which became the foundation of his wine and wine tourism project. In 2018, Kranemann Wine Estates was officially established after Christoph acquired the iconic Quinta do Convento de São Pedro das Águias from Colt Resources. Located in the Távora Valley in a unique part of the Douro with high-altitude vineyards and schist and granite soils, the estate is now the centerpiece of a new winemaking and wine tourism initiative. Kranemann Wine Estates focuses on producing exceptional DOC Douro and Port wines that reflect the distinct terroir of the region, with an emphasis on excellence, originality, and differentiation in the globally recognized Douro Wine Region.

Region: Douro

Region: Douro

The wines of the Douro Valley are known for their depth, complexity, and aging potential. The soil is predominantly schist, a type of metamorphic rock that retains heat and helps to ripen the grapes. The region’s unique terroir, combined with the use of indigenous grape varieties and traditional winemaking techniques, create wines that are rich, complex, and full of character.
